Dear Ms. Howe:

I am writing with an encounter that I hope you will be able to shed some light upon. The incident occurred May 26, 2010.

I was driving from Rochester, PA to New Vrindaban, WV. Once I entered into Ohio from PA 68 West I merged unto Ohio 7 south which runs all the way to the Moundsville, WV exit. At 6:39 P.M., I passed under the stacks of the W. H. Sammis Power Plant. On emerging from the plant I noticed an object to my left over the river which paralleled the road. It was approximately the 1000 feet into the air. I approximate this because there was a hawk circling in the air opposite direction of the object at roughly half the height.

The moving aerial object struck my attention because it was slightly darker blue than the sky and triangular shaped. The width of the object I estimate to be between 50-70 feet. It was enough of a color contrast to catch my attention. I pulled over in order to get out and have a better look from a stationary position. I was at this point unsure that what I was seeing was an actual anomaly or reflection from the car window, glasses, etc. But once out of the the car, I observed the object to move very slowly in a southern direction. The color was such a slight difference compared to the sky that it was only chance that I noticed. The eye could easy not detect it.

I watch for a few moments and then had the presence to grab my coolpix p100 and take a series of photos that showed the movement. I also called my wife to describe what I was seeing. I got back into the car and continued south on Ohio 7. The object on 5 occasions that I was able to observe flashed for lack of a better term. I would actually say it was more like a very bright reflection of the sun on polished metal. Very brief. It then assumed the sky blue color. Almost as if it was resetting itself and losing the blue coloring of the sky.

I lost the object near Brilliant, OH.

The story gets a little more unsettling from this point. I arrived at New Vrindaban, WV at 8:30 and attended a program until 11 P.M. I did not mention the sighting to anyone at the time. My wife was the only other person aware. I used my camera while at NV and then returned it to the back of my RAV4. On the way back, I used a small dirt road leading to Elm Grove, WV where I planned to take 70 East back. I think this dirt road is County Road 7 but I can check this if you have interest. The road is in poor condition and I seldom pass anyone on it.

About 1 mile on the road, a car ahead of me was pulled over as far as possible to the right with flashers on. A man with black dress pants, shirt and tie was standing at the back flagging me to stop. This struck me as unusual as I have not seen such a well dressed person on this road or, frankly, in this area. It is very rural and most people farm or have similar blue collar jobs. The car was a silver Buick lacrosse. The man said that his car just “died” and could I help him to get the hood open to “see what was happening” He said that he had never done any car work and did not know about such things. I parked my car behind his (he had walked over to my driver window for the above conversation) and walked up to his hood. He popped the hood and I opened it for him. We stood for a few minutes chatting in general about what might be wrong. It appeared to be very new by the clean engine. I suggested that he call roadside assistance and go to a garage. He said that sounded like a good plan. I got back into my car and he held up his finger in a just a moment fashion. I rolled the window down and he said “Thanks for your help. Have a safe trip and keep your eyes on the road THIS time.”

I drove off and began to think why he would have made such a strange comment. When I got home, I went to remove my change of clothes and camera from the back of the car. My clothes were there but the camera was missing. I placed the camera in the back right before I left NV and did not make any other stops except to help this man and refuel. On refueling, I paid at the pump and did not enter the store.

It is a bit unsettling and have not discussed this with anyone. I do not wish to publicly share my name.

I recently tuned into Coast-to-Coast and listened to your most recent appearance. One story in particular caught my interest. It was the reported encounter in the Radnor Forest, Wales, in southwestern England by Phil Hoyle and Mike Freebury. [ 041310 Earthfiles Parts 1 and 2.] I saw a photo you displayed [ of videotaped aerial craft over sheep mutilation valley] and was startled to see that I had seen this same image many years earlier. Even the story was nearly the same with some minor deviations. My photos are more clear and concise then video frames by Phil and Mike. I took video and from the video created still frames of my sighting. I’ve attached one of the still frames to this e-mail. I’m certain you will see the similarity. ... My sighting occurred in the middle of the night in August of 2002, while aboard a cruise ship in the Caribbean.

February 2010 Video Frame of Two UFOs Over            Valley Where U. K. Sheep Mutilated

The following is an account of a real UFO sighting from the balcony of a cruise ship in the Caribbean in 2002.  I’m not sure why I have waited this long to file this report, but once an ardent skeptic of most UFO tales, everything changed on a late summer night in the Atlantic Ocean.  So although late in arriving, here is my story:

On August 27, 2002, while cruising aboard the ship Carnival Pride, I woke up from a deep sleep, only to find myself oddly sitting on the edge of the bed, facing our cabin’s patio door.  The drapes were drawn.  I do not know what alerted me to arise from my sleep, nor can I explain what prompted me to go out onto the cabins private balcony that early morning.  It was approximately 2:30 am.  As I stepped out onto the balcony, I moved forward to the balcony railing.   Our ship was roughly 200 miles out from land, with the first destination stop, being Half Moon Cay – Carnival’s private island.  Our cabin was positioned on the port side of the ship, facing east, traveling in a southerly direction.

At first glance I was drawn to the front of ship, as the moon was out and nearly visible through a small bank of clouds.  The illumination of the moon cascaded over the dark blue pristine waters below.  Then I proceeded to glance upwards, staring straight port side.  To my amazement I spotted a very large cluster of multicolored lights. One light appeared to be very bright and white at its center, while a series of smaller individual lights of blue, green and red surrounded it.  I can’t be sure, but it appeared very much as if its shape were triangular.

My best guess is that it was approximately 70 degrees off horizon and its scale, although difficult to determine would have covered a bald fist at arms length.  By this determination, I gather that this object was very large and probably close.  It did not move or make a sound.  It merely hovered.  A very slight misty cloud obscured about 25% of the visible object. It took a few minutes for my brain to register what it was seeing. I watched it for about 10 seconds.  I was stunned! It definitely was not a plane. It was also unlikely a helicopter, especially given the distance from any land mass. 

I must admit, despite the initial state of shock, I was quite proud of myself, in that I immediately recognized the rare nature of this observance and quickly took action.  It registered with me, that only a photo or a video of this object, would exonerate me of any embellishment, should I choose to share this unbelievable sight with another.  So the following actions occurred within the frame work of 7-9 seconds:

I quickly remembered I had left our camera bag, just inside the patio door, on the floor, out of the way of the normal traffic aisle. The small quarters of our cabin made this a logical storage place.  Coincidentally, it would also offer me the shortest distance in retrieving the cameras and film this object.  As I turned to open the door, I placed one foot inside our cabin, keeping my other foot outside, thereby propping the door open.  I reached in for our video camera and as I backpedaled to the open balcony railing again, I opened the lens case, activated the camera, all at the same time.  This is why I reference the time frame of 7-9 seconds.  Why is this important? It will become perfectly clear with my next testimonial. 

As I swung the camera upwards and toward the direction of the object, to my utter dismay, it was gone.  It had simply vanished. I couldn’t believe it. Only a few seconds had passed.  I was however, not deterred.  I noticed off in the distance, a very small but bright light.  At first I thought it might be a planet, such as Mars, which as I recall, was highly visible in the Western sky at that time of the year, but I was facing east. I still decided to zoom in and film it, in the event it might have been what I watched in total astonishment a few seconds earlier, and twenty-times larger!

I took nearly two minutes of video.  I used the railing cap to steady my camera.  While I realize, that a digital camera, zoomed to a near infinite range, can cause square pixilation’s and that some subjects, illuminating brightly as a source, can create false images, such as a rainbow effect with twinkles of various colored lights; what I saw, was something far different. It seemed to have a single image of light, countered by the surprise emergence of a second (different) colored light from behind.  Then a third colored light.  I don’t think Mars would react that way.

At that point, I felt I had recorded a sufficient amount of tape to make a convincing case for something obviously unidentified as nothing short of an unexplained, unidentified flying object (UFO).  It was now time to wake up my wife. While keeping our two children sleeping, I would soon add a second set of eyes, in a sanity check, to see if I was imagining the whole thing.  I went inside our cabin and awoke her.  Despite her groggy state, like a good trooper, she trudged out on the balcony with me, to add an equal witness to this sighting.  While she manned (woman) a set of binoculars, I continued to film the subject.  Once again and much more clearly, a red object immerged from behind the larger brighter object, as if hovering or orbiting around it.

The mystery only became more bizarre, as within minutes of the sighting, a group of three ships floating on the water, off in the distance, suddenly appeared.  I know for certain that they were not there before.  After discovering them, my film shows at least one of them floating on the surface.

To conclude, I can only surmise the following:  Did (what ever it was) possess some artificial intelligence that flagged it of my observing presence on deck?  If so, did it react by speeding away at an incredible rate (as I’ve heard of, in other cases) to avoid a video camera image that clearly would have rivaled the one I eventually captured?  To film it at maybe 1-2 miles away vs. perhaps 20 miles?  I’ll never know.  And what significance did the surprise appearance of three smaller vessels on the ocean have to do with this experience.  I have enclosed snapshot pictures or frames of the video I shot.  I have kept the video to myself.  As of this writing, after 4 ½ years, only 6-7 other people know of our UFO encounter.

hello linda,

hope all is well with you today. i am a big fan of your work and always look forward to your 'coast to coast' visits. please excuse my lack of caps. i work nights and am too lazy to be all formal here, lol.

i am an army veteran and had served my country for 16 yrs. before an injury cut my career short. in 1989 i was stationed in germany. i was in a unit that was called upon to participate in desert shield/desert storm (aka gulf war). one early morning, approximately 2 weeks (around valentines day) before the ground war began, myself and another soldier were scheduled for a two hour guard duty shift (2am to 4am). let me say here that my unit was on saudi arabian soil, 20k from the iraqi border (pretty much in no mans land) . anyway, my buddy and i were tasked to guard the back perimeter of where my unit was set up for the night. approximately the width of a football field. he and i split this distance in half where we would walk from the opposite ends and to the middle an back.

approximately 30 minutes into our shift, we noticed a bright light in the northern sky. approximately 1000 feet in the air. this perfectly round bright light was white and silver in color and very bright. it was motionless and the size of a dime held at arms length. it did not make any sound whatsoever. it was very dark outside and somewhat overcast. stars in the sky could faintly be seen in comparison to this bright light. my buddy and i walked towards each other and began to converse soon after this light appeared out of nowhere. neither of us saw this light move into position. we both talked about that. it was all of a sudden there.

we watched this light for about 5 minutes and then all of a sudden it began to move south towards us. it was at this point in time (we later talked about this) that we both were overcome by this feeling that this light somehow knew we were both watching it. as the light made its way in our direction we both sought cover by running towards a couple parked trucks. after we hid behind our respective vehicles we peered out to see where this object was. it had stopped moving and was somewhat closer almost overhead and at the same height of 1000 feet. there for a couple of minutes it shined, motionless again and still w/o any sound. then, all of a sudden, this object began so move slowly upward and then a couple seconds later, shot straight into space and was gone within seconds, w/o a sound. it was like watching a shooting star in reverse.

my buddy and i never said a word to anyone later that morning, nor did we say a thing to the two soldiers that relieved us at 4am. my buddy and i had strongly agreed that this light was not of this world. we also agreed upon not wanting to go through the ridicule from the others and kept this incident totally to ourselves.

thats the way i have remembered that night linda. i am really curious to hear if you have heard any other stories from the gulf war era concerning strange things in the sky.
