June 3, 2010 Wilton, Wiltshire, England - Two English researchers and videographers got to the Wilton Windmill formation within hours after the first report around noon on Saturday, May 22, 2010, by pilot Busty Taylor. The first one in was 44-year-old Gary King who moved from the Cardiff region to Wiltshire County two and a half years ago after being present during a night to sunup hillside nightwatch on July 7, 2007. To his astonishment, in the 3:45 AM early dawn, a large pattern with at least 150 circles was visible in the East Field when there had been no formation the day before. He had been intrigued by crop formations since 1997, but that 07-07-07 East Field event turned him into a passionate investigator. “My life has never been the same since then,” Gary told me. Three hours after Busty Taylor flew over the Wilton Windmill around noon time on Saturday, May 22, 2010, Gary King was the first person with a video camera in the oilseed rape formation at 3 PM.
Interviews: Saturday, May 22, 2010 - 3 PM
Gary King, Videographer, CropcircleReporter.com, Melksham, Wiltshire, England: “I've been flying every morning taking a certain route around the Alton Barnes to Devizes area. I had flown that and not seen anything, but an hour later I received a phone call from Karen Alexander saying there was a new formation in Wiltshire at the Wilton Windmill southeast of Marlborough.
I had my cameras with me and my girlfriend and I drove straight on to the Wilton Windmill and got there around 3 PM. I logged the time on my video blog. We were driving around looking for the formation when we saw a glider pilot who had to land in a field nearby. We went over where he was standing on the roadway waiting for someone to come rescue him. He told us he had seen a crop circle and pointed toward the Wilton Windmill and gave us directions. It didn't take long to drive there and get my cameras out. We walked into the first tramline and into the formation.
As I walked into the first outer ring, I could immediately see that this was the kind of lay we normally see later on in the year with barley and wheat – this outer ring had been fashioned in a plaited or woven basket pattern.

THESE WERE TALL PLANTS, PERHAPS 5 FEET, FLOWERING AND SO CRISP THAT YOU CAN’T PUSH AGAINST THE STEMS WITHOUT CRACKING THEM AND YET YOU CAN SEE FLATTENED STEMS WITHOUT BREAKS?

Gary King estimated that at least two-thirds of the oilseed rape stems emerging
from the soil that he videotaped in the Wilton Windmill formation were not creased
or broken. This May 22, 2010, 5 PM image © 2010 by Andrew Pyrka.
Yes. When you find maybe 65% of oilseed rape plants in the Wilton Windmill and 70% to 80% of the oilseed rape in the May 9th Stonehenge formation - all bent over without breaks - people can’t do that! I say 65% in the Wilton Windmill because I didn’t examine all of it. I didn’t get down on my hands and knees and crawl around, but as I walked around, I could see loads of the plants bent over to the ground.
Actually on my video blog, you can see that I picked a stem up and made the comment that the oilseed rape is mature, but it’s still younger than it should be because the crop is a couple of weeks behind due to bad weather. So, there is a brittleness to it. And it’s a brittle, celery stalk-like crop anyway. But I picked a piece of oilseed rape up in my thumb and forefinger and broke it in four places very easily. I just put a bend in the stem and it snapped in my hand!
RIGHT, AND THE HERRINGBONE WEAVE IN YOUR VIDEO, THAT IS UNUSUAL FOR OILSEED RAPE, RIGHT?

Criss-crossing of 5-foot-tall yellow flowering oilseed rape plants in herringbone-type weave throughout the entire ring around the 300-foot-diameter Wilton Windmill, Wiltshire, pattern.
This photo was taken at 5 PM on Saturday, May 23, 2010, by another crop
formation investigator and videographer, Andrew Pyrka.
(laughs) It is really extraordinary! I’ve never known anybody who could go around doing this in oilseed rape! If you walk out into one of these fields and walk up the tramline, the plants are giving off yellow pollen and there is a lot of yellow dust around. It would be a messy medium to play around with in the first place. But then to think you could weave it this way, it gets ridiculous, really.
And the plants were put down in different directions. So, the twelve spokes that radiated from the central circle to the outside ring - all those plants were put down with the flowering heads going towards the outer ring. Walking into the formation, you walk across the criss-crossed outer band and then you are walking on the flower heads coming towards you and it felt like I was going against the flow somehow.
WHERE WOULD YOU PLACE THE WILTON WINDMILL IN TERMS OF QUALITY OF DESIGN IN OILSEED RAPE?
Oh, wow! Number One - in terms of intention, orchestration, deliberateness and beauty combined together, this is Number One. Or close with Stonehenge May 9th this year in terms of unusual weaving. The 2010 Stonehenge central circle had a basket weave. It blew me away because it reminded me of last year's East Field basket weave in July. But this year's Stonehenge weave was hard to photograph, - can't see it in the aerials and it was hard to videotape on the ground.

WOULD THOSE TWO – STONEHENGE AND WILTON WINDMILL IN THE SPRING OF 2010 – BE THE ONLY TWO CROP FORMATIONS YOU HAVE SEEN IN THIRTEEN YEARS THAT HAD THE WOVEN LAY IN OILSEED RAPE?
Absolutely yes. Definitely! We’re seeing the beautiful lay in oilseed rape that we usually see in wheat or barley.”

Andrew Pyrka was born in Poland forty-seven years ago. When he was nine, his family moved to Cheltenham, Glostershire, England, where he has grown up, married, and had his own family. Andrew has become so fascinated with English crop formations and the mysterious lights associated with them that he and a friend, Paul Jones, drive as often as they can the nearly 50 miles one way from Cheltenham to the Vale of Pewsy in Wiltshire for night watches and to get into formations as early as they can to photograph and videotape before damage by public visitors.
In 2009, Paul Jones and Andrew Pyrka videotaped a silver disc that either had a bright white light or strong setting sun glint near a crop formation at Barbury Castle. While Paul videotaped, Andrew walked across a field trying to get closer to the disc that he no longer could see. Andrew lifted his left arm straight up toward the sky. “Instantly, when I put my arm up, there was a huge jolt of electrical current that went down my raised arm. I definitely interacted with some kind of strong field the UFO must have been giving off. But why couldn't I see it where I was, while Paul could not only see it, he videotaped it for another fifteen minutes?” [ See 073009 Earthfiles Archive and Andrew Pyrka's CropcircleWisdom.]
This year on Saturday, May 22, Andrew received a phone call alerting him that a new oilseed rape formation had been reported near the Wilton Windmill southeast of Marlborough in Wiltshire County. He and Paul got there with their cameras around 5 PM.
Andrew Pyrka, Cheltenham Taxi Driver, Crop Circle Investigator and Webmaster for CropcircleWisdom.com, Cheltenham, Glostershire, England: “As I first entered the Wilton Windmill formation, the outer ring showed what I would classify as a woven rope-like pattern of oilseed rape flattened down in a criss-cross manner. That was around the entire 300-foot-diameter circle.

We measured from top to bottom along that line that goes through the center circle of the formation. Then we did the opposite direction, so measuring vertically and horizontally. We got a 300 foot length in both directions.
I DON’T THINK THERE HAS BEEN SUCH A HERRING-BONE CROSS-HATCH AROUND A LARGE PATTERN IN OILSEED RAPE BEFORE?
That’s right. This is a spectacular event because what we discovered this year is a pattern in oilseed rape plants that the circlemakers have never done before. This was also apparent in the May 9th Stonehenge formation in oilseed rape. The center circle at Stonehenge was like the woven basket weave that we saw in the East Field in 2009.
This cross-hatch pattern doesn’t show up as well from the air, but on the ground it is visible. The circlemakers chose to make this pattern in more mature, 5-foot-tall, oilseed rape, where in prior years, the oilseed rape in formations has been younger.

Both the Wilton Windmill and Stonehenge oilseed rape plants are still growing and have risen up toward the sun since each was first reported, meaning the base of the oilseed rape plants are not crushed.
I have tried to stand on a mature oilseed rape stem and that plant will crack, will snap, at the base. In fact, what we try to do now is walk on the outer rim of oilseed rape formations so as not to damage the crop ourselves as investigators. We always try now to avoid walking on the crop. If all researchers did that, it would help everybody. And if the public did that as well, it would help us all by removing the confusion of crop damage by visitors after crop formations are first reported.
There were lots of stems in the Wilton Windmill formation flattened close to the ground without any breakage.

There were so many of those rectangles coming off the twelve straight lines! Then, the center circle was spinning counterclockwise and the outer ring was going clockwise. The precision factor - it would be an enormous amount of work and each of those rectangles was equal in width almost down to the centimeter!
Another construction anomaly, when you look at the lines (rectangles off the 12 main avenues) from the air, they appear very straight. But actually on the ground level, they each have a very gentle curve, like spinning around in a circle.

Another interesting thing that we found was that from where the pattern begins in outer ring, that is the only point we found broken stems. Perhaps it’s where the creative force begins at that point and is perhaps greater there. Whatever is the source of the force, we don’t know, but when the force begins, it’s rougher and then smoothes out. I think it’s where the force begins that we tend to find more broken stems, while the rest of it is nicely flattened bends, but uncrushed or broken, throughout.
YOU’RE SUGGESTING THAT WE ARE DEALING WITH A CREATIVE FORCE OF ENERGY THAT MIGHT CAUSE SOME BREAKAGE IN PLANTS AS FRAGILE AS OILSEED RAPE. BUT MOST OF THE FORMATION HAS NO BREAKAGE.
Absolutely!”

WHAT WAS YOUR IMPRESSION OF THE STONEHENGE FORMATION?
We arrived at Stonehenge around 3 AM the early morning of May 10th after it was reported in the afternoon of May 9. We couldn't get there any earlier and wondered what the conditions might be in the dark. We parked in the perimeter, opposite the A303 that passes Stonehenge. What was quite interesting was that the A303 is a very busy road and from both directions when cars were coming down from the top or from the other direction, they were all coming down with full beams on the cars. At certain angles, the full beams of the car lights partly illuminated the canola field! So, if anybody would have been in there, they would have kept on ducking because of the car lights and not be able to use any flashlights simply because of the Stonehenge security.
Now, Stonehenge is guarded throughout the night by security because there are people called ‘jumpers.’ These are people who jump the fence and run towards Stonehenge just to touch the stones.
In fact, we were approached by security men from Stonehenge at 3 AM right after we got there. We were about 200 meters away from Stonehenge. They had spotted us and came and questioned us about what our intentions were being there. We explained to them that we were cropcircle chasers and we wanted to know where the crop formation was because we arrived in the dark and we could not see where it was. Security told us they were not even aware there was a new crop formation and they had not seen anything suspicious.
They did tell us the only possibility would be the canola (oilseed rape) field directly opposite Stonehenge. So, we waited until the break of dawn and went on our search. And it turned out after sunup, we were about 50 to 60 meters from the formation where we parked in the dark. So, if the Stonehenge security noticed us, I would think they would have noticed a group of men acting suspiciously in some way.

AT SUNUP WHEN YOU WENT INTO THE FORMATION, EVEN THOUGH IT HAD ALREADY BEEN THERE FOR MANY HOURS, WHAT DID YOU SEE THAT IMPRESSED YOU?
If you stood on the edge of the field, you would not know it’s there. You have to walk up an incline and then you could start to see the pattern in the oilseed rape. Once we established where the pattern was, we then had to find the appropriate tramline to walk through to enter the formation.
The Stonehenge plants were about one-quarter of the way back up from the ground. This was the first thing that struck us as authentic. There were a few broken stems here and there like in the Wilton Windmill. But in Stonehenge, the plants were even higher off the ground than Wilton - meaning, the oilseed had not been damaged and downed plants in the formation were already rising up. The Stonehenge oilseed rape was younger than Wilton and apparently started to recover, rising back toward the sun, right after the creative force had been applied.
Then there was the amazing pattern within the main circle. That pattern was the distinctive weave that we saw in the East Field back in 2009, a basket weave. In Stonehenge, if you look at the way the pattern is created, you would have to precisely work out how each plant stem would fall. What I mean is each stem was lying equal, so the end of the petals, the yellow flower heads, would finish at the edge of the woven central circle!
The thing is how to calculate so that each and every flowering plant would fall and be equal to the edge of the circle at the same time? That seems like that would take an awful lot of calculating work.
HOW DO YOU WEAVE CRISP OILSEED RAPE?
Absolutely! I think what the circlemakers are trying to do is to make exactly that statement! ‘We are trying our best here to convince you that we are authentic.’And yet people are still not getting this is impossible to do in the dark in a short period of time! And with Stonehenge security across the road at the same time with lights from cars shining into the field. And the Stonehenge pattern was 500-feet-long in oilseed rape, exactly from top to bottom! So to create such precision as the central woven circle in a pattern that large in the dead of night near Stonehenge I think is impossible for humans to do.”

Email to Earthfiles.com from Anthony Wood, U. K. resident visiting the Wilton Windmill formation on Sunday, 10:15 AM, May 23, 2010: “The surveillance sign was in the car park of the Wilton Windmill entrance, which is also right next to the entrance to the field where the crop circle is. Although there is a sign I couldn't see a camera; perhaps if there is one it only looks at the windmill?
The photos I sent were of the outer circle it shows some kind of basic weave pattern, one group of stems usually five stems wide one way and then another group of five the other way approx six feet apart, and in between crop lying swirled around these centers.
“The area is very remote and not overlooked by any buildings as far as I could see, apart from the windmill, which I guess is unoccupied at night.”
