Mysterious New Boom Reports

“The whole beach house shook.”
- Witness, Virginia Beach, Virginia
“This is weird. Where are the booms coming from?
Sometimes it's like a train backing into another train.”
- Thomas Daniel, resident in Carytown section of Richmond, Virginia
August 24, 2013, The Virginian-Pilot, Virginia Beach, Virginia.
No one can say for sure if what Nencetti and people along the Virginia Beach coast felt this morning really was a sonic boom. Residents around Hampton Roads and in northeastern North Carolina took to social media sites to report that they heard three or four loud booms.
The U.S. Geological Survey didn’t register anything this morning, but did receive reports from residents who heard the noise which some said was accompanied by shaking and came on the two-year anniversary of the 5.8 magnitude earthquake that was centered near Mineral.
September 8, 2013 Albuquerque, New Mexico - Since January 2011 when I received the first reports of bright flashes of light and loud, unexplained booms that rattle windows, garage doors and have even cracked sidewalks, I have produced more than fifty Earthfiles reports about the persistent high strangeness to date. See More Information below. The booms have come periodically and recently, I have received dozens of boom or metal crashing reports again of which a few are shared here in the hopes of learning more from other Earthfiles viewers and radio listeners. Ear and eyewitnesses, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org. All requests for anonymity are honored.
Loud booms in Cincinnati, Ohio
September 7, 2013
Sayler Park is a small community marked by Google pointer
northwest of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio.
We have experienced three within the last five days, Sept. 2 - 5. I live eleven miles west of Cincinnati, Ohio, in a small community called Sayler Park. The reason for me to contact you is the booms were only experienced by one household and we have not been able to verify the booms with any of the neighbors. I hope this will help to map out the areas in the United States to help you in your research.
Subject: Booms in Poplarville, Mississippi
Date: September 6, 2013
I am a newly retired schoolteacher and a resident of Poplarville, Mississippi, a small town not far from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Last Saturday my husband and I went into the house to cool off and rest after some yard work. It was a sunny, hot day. It was about 2:00 PM when he settled into the couch for some SEC football. When all of a sudden we heard a tremendous BOOM!
I ran to the dining room, which is on the north side of the house, because it seemed as if "it" was right outside that window. The windows in the dining room literally shook. My husband jumped up as well. He headed out the back door to see if he could see what could have possibly made a sound of such magnitude. We walked all around the house looking for, what we assumed, must have exploded. There was nothing amiss. The sound was NOT thunder, NOT gun shot, NOT maneuvers from Camp Shelby. All of those sounds I am quite familiar with. The sound did not reverberate. It was not up above us or below us. It seemed as if it were in the air beside the house.
I was filled with a disquieting fear. What was most odd was that none of the neighbors heard it. I wanted to share this strange event with you.
Night time rumblings - booms in Sequim, Washington
August 29, 2013
I live in Sequim, WA, and I have a brother that lives in the same general area about four miles from me. One evening about a week and a half ago, at our respective homes, we heard these sounds around 10 PM Pacific. To me it was what I would imagine the sound to be of a large rocket taking off from a distance. The sound never totally dissipated, but would change in intensity and amplitude. It was of sufficient strength to rattle the windows in my home.
My wife heard the sounds and several times both of us ventured outside to see if there was any visible activity which might be linked to the noise. My wife stated she fully expected to see the same type of slow moving alien craft as was depicted in the movie "Independence Day" - but none of the sort was there. The duration of time which this sound anomaly lasted was from about 10 PM until 1 AM local time.
My brother took it upon himself to stop in at the city police station to inquire as to any explanation of the sounds. The dispatch woman said there had been several reports of this noise in the exact same time frame as we ourselves heard it. She said one report was of a thunder storm, but it was a clear, cloudless night. From my/our dead reckoning of which direction the sound was coming from, it was the northeast of my home.
The more I see that old familiar 1000 yard stare when I talk of such things to the authorities, the more convinced I become the folks would be very displeased to know the truth.

"Sonic" booms Virginia Beach area/Same over Hudson Valley of NY
August 29, 2013
Virginia Beach, Virginia, is 360 miles southwest of New York City
on the island of Manhattan from which the Hudson Valley extends
north on the Hudson River and the Mohawk river branch.
Hudson Valley extends straight north of Manhattan Island from Piermont
to Coxsockie. During the last ice age, the valley was filled by a large glacier
that pushed down as far as Long Island. Near the end of the last ice age,
the Great Lakes drained south down the Hudson River, from a large glacial
lake called Lake Iroquois - the remnant of that glacial lake is Lake Ontario.
I just caught this report of booms in eastern VA again:
Also – I live in New Paltz, NY, about halfway between NYC and Albany, along the Hudson River (and several minutes from Stewart Airport, formerly Stewart Air Force base, in Newburgh). Very early this morning (August 29th), around 0300, there was a long, booming rumble that I heard through the running air conditioner and the earbuds I had dozed off wearing. It lasted about 10-12 seconds, long enough for me to go outside and scan the sky.
It was very overcast here, but I saw no fireball/plane, etc., and there was no lightning in the viewable area. This was the second such event in the past week; the first occurred in daylight. I was born at Dover AFB and grew up near Stewart. I have heard planes scrambled before, and this sounds very similar, although I can’t swear to it. The second boom had more of a ground-related component, but the first was definitely aerial.
I have been following the booms story since you began investigating it. I am an old paramedic (let’s say, well-seasoned!), a geographer and technical writer. I have been experimenting with mapping these locations against magnetic, tectonic, mining, and other factors, and hope you break this mystery. Thanks for your work!
Sky booms on Eastern Shore of Virginia
August 28, 2013
Willis Wharf, Virginia, at Google pointer is
about 50 miles north of Virginia Beach.
I got your email off an online link in which you were giving an interview about people across the country recently hearing strange booms and light flashes in the sky. I just started noticing more reports coming online about the phenomena.
I want to relate to you an experience that I had on the Eastern Shore of Virginia in 2011/2012. I currently live in Pennsylvania, but had lived in Willis Wharf, Virginia, for a job I had there. The place that I rented was pretty secluded with minimal neighbors and was very close to the eastern coastline.
I had the experience about 4 times. Two during the middle of the night and two in the afternoon. In 3 of the 4 times, the weather was clear. The other time it was just a light rain, but no thunderstorms. My experiences had the flash of light with a very loud boom that shook my windows in the house. They were singular booms.
The strange thing is that the neighbors who did live on the street did not hear anything when I asked them if they had heard anything. I also asked my landlord if there were hunters or military in the area, but he just laughed and said "no." I started scanning the internet for more information.
It has bothered me so much that I have been looking things up online since then for something that sounded like what happened to me. Some of the stories you have told sounded very close to what I have experienced. So just to give you some background, this had happened to me starting in 2011. Each time I did investigate outside, but did not see or hear anything else. Hopefully this helps in your research. I am curious to find out what is going on. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. By the way, I am not looking for any publicity and would like to remain anonymous. Thank you for your time.
BOOMS heard in Lake Forest, Calif. for 2 days and getting stronger
August 27, 2013
Lake Forest, California, not far from Newport Beach,
is about 50 miles southeast of Los Angeles.
I'm a Registered Nurse in Lake Forest, California, near Laguna Beach about 45 miles southeast of Los Angeles and wanted to let you know that I read your article about sink holes and loud booms and I wanted to thank you profusely. The booms are growing in frequency and intensity here in Lake Forest and my son can hear them, too.
Heck! They make my windows rattle! I always thought they were from Camp Pendleton, but they are not! There were no detonations at the times I reported, according to base commander. Your article at least addressed this and I am grateful, albeit unsure of our future. It is nice to know at least that someone is researching and tracking this.
I hope this is just an earth adjustment. :- ( I'm afraid.)
Sonic Booms heard in San Diego
August 24, 2013
San Diego is 80 miles southeast of Lake Forest, California.
I was trying to do a search on the internet for any news about the "Sonic" Booms (very low frequency) we heard here yesterday, and I found your Earthfiles link. My son and I were walking on the beach in Del Mar, San Diego, CA, and heard 15 sonic booms within one hour between 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM. We left the beach at that time.
We were quite shocked as we have NEVER heard these sounds at the beach before and that many boom sounds in such a short period of time. We used to live in Lancaster, CA, where they would test the SR71 and other jets, and we heard sonic booms all the time, so we are very familiar. This was different. If you get any intel about this, we would really appreciate it!
Booms heard in Abington, Pennsylvania
August 23, 2013
Abington, Pennsylvania, is about 14 miles
north of downtown Philadelphia.
One night this summer - I do not recall the exact date; however, after hearing this low boom sound for about 30 seconds, I turned on my police scanner app and about three minutes later I heard the Montgomery County dispatcher call out to the police (either Abington or other local PD) that a 911 caller had reported hearing the loud booms. The police officer who responded, did so quickly and said something about the sounds coming from turnpike construction.
Now, I live pretty much between the Abington Township building and the athletic fields along Huntingdon Road (actually right across the street from the athletic fields). Also I have worked in construction for about 13 years, and the loudest thing I have ever heard in construction was a pile driver. I find it hard to believe (even in the silence of night) that the sound of a pile driver could make these sounds. And also that the sound would travel from the turnpike to my house. For what it is worth, the sound was coming from the general direction of the turnpike (if I had to guess the sound was coming from the north).
Strange Sounds near Gainesville, Florida
September 5, 2013
Gainesville, Florida, near the northern border of the state
is about 115 miles northwest of Orlando.
I am writing you today to inquire about a strange sound that I have experienced twice now at my home in Central Florida, to the east of the city of Gainesville. In the months of June and July 2013, while sitting on my back porch, I have heard a most strange sound that I can describe as a distant rumbling roar.
On the first occasion I could not determine the direction from where the strange roaring originated as it sounded like it was all around me. On the second occasion it appeared to be coming from the west. There is a small municipal airport to the north of where I live and I have only seen a few prop driven airplanes in the skies around my house. Never a jet. To the west, on the north side of Gainesville there is an airport. On both occasions I chalked up these experiences to a jet engine of some kind, but admit that it was rather strange sounding because of a horn-like howl and a pulsing vibration that accompanied it.
In fact the sounds were somewhat alarming. I asked a friend who was over at the house during the July incident and he speculated that it was a jet engine as well. We also have frequent thunderstorms in this region of the state, but I eliminated that because it just didn't sound exactly like thunder.
Yesterday while at work, I was perusing news articles, as this is how I primarily get my news these days. ...I was totally shocked to hear that these strange sounds have been heard all over the earth for the last couple years. I am veteran who has seen multiple tours of duty in combat zones. I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology, and am pursuing my Masters. I also work for the Department of Veterans Affairs.
There hasn't been a lot of the strange horn-like, furniture moving, metallic sounds reported as of late. I mean yes people are still hearing them, but not as frequently. I decided to send you this email because you were the one person who seemed to look at these occurrences objectively. You seem to approach these matters with an investigative and analytical mind and I respect that highly. Being a Christian I cannot overlook the Biblical implications involved, but also working in the medical field I have been trained to look at the facts and evidence and base conclusions upon it. Fact, I heard a very strange sound coming from the sky on two separate occasions. Despite coming up with a logical conclusion as to its origin, I was still left with enough doubt as to question it. Fact, not everyone around me has heard this. Only two people I know personally has ever mentioned hearing anything like it.
Please, what is this sound I and so many others have heard and documented? Why is this not heard by everyone and reported to the news media? Why has there not been any real government research as to what this is? Why isn't this being taken seriously, because it certainly doesn't leave me with a comforted feeling? Is this all just some elaborate global hoax? Please help me understand what is going on.
