Reposted February 17, 2024 – Updated with mp3 interview and images on August 23, 2012 / Original report on August 22, 2012 Omaha, Nebraska – On June 22, 2012, I received an email from a retired U. S. Army Counterintelligence Warrant Officer named Douglas Alan Mutschler. In June, he had heard my Coast to Coast AM radio broadcast about my trip to Gobekli Tepe, Turkey, the 12,000-year-old archaeological wonder that was mysteriously buried about a thousand years after its original construction. No one knew anything about the nearly 300 tall, limestone pillars arranged in repeating circles until excavation began in 1994. Doug Mutschler wanted to report another alleged underground burial – a large, pyramid-shaped structure supposedly found underground in Alaska by seismologists and geophysicists studying the Earth’s crust during China’s May 22, 1992, one megaton underground nuclear detonation test in Lop Nor.
My recorded interview with Doug was first broadcast in my Earthfiles news updates on Coast to Coast AM the night of July 26 to 27, 2012. I appealed to listeners and Earthfiles viewers to contact me by email with any relevant information on or off the record. One of the July 27, emails that arrived after that broadcast was from a 46-year-old adopted son of a retired Western Electric engineer, who allegedly worked between 1959 and 1961 on a powerful electrical system emanating from a very large pyramid of unknown origin underground in Alaska. At his request, I will call the son “John Smith,” who is based in the Omaha, Nebraska, region.

I don’t know how much help this will be, but when I heard your story about an underground pyramid in Alaska on C2C, I was shocked to say the least! I was instantly reminded of the stories my Father told me. He was a WW2 Navy Veteran “Sea Bees.” He often talked about Pearl Harbor, Europe and his time in Japan. But what always fascinated me were the tales of his time in Alaska from 1959 through 1961. After the war he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering and later more schooling in physics.
After finishing college he was “re-recruited” by the Military to join a group of other experts to study and work at an underground structure in Alaska that in his words they called the “Dark Pyramid.” He spoke numerous times of how seriously the government took this project and the steps they took to keep it a secret. (I always assumed it was a military installation.) He said it was a study of energy distribution. He went on with Western Electric to work in what he called the “information bubble” for AT&T, which was the precursor to the internet and cell phone technology we all know today.
In his later years, he would always complain when receiving his electric bill that it would be FREE if we knew the truth. I am in the process of going through his old papers and studies to see if there is any reference to his time in Alaska. There might be no information since he said it was “Confidential.” But if nothing else, I would be happy to share whatever I can remember him telling me. I just thought that if this Pyramid allegedly found in 1992 is true, our Gov. may have known about it far earlier than that and had taken extensive measures to keep it hidden.

“John Smith,” adopted son of retired Western Electric and AT&T engineer who worked 700 feet underground at pyramid in Alaska: “I was listening to your Earthfiles news updates on Coast to Coast AM on July 26 to 27, and heard the story by Doug Mutschler (about the underground big pyramid in Alaska west of Mount McKinle). I was really shocked because my father had told me a lot of stories after his time in WWII when he later worked in Alaska. Apparently this was some Top Secret thing.
FROM WHAT YEAR TO WHAT YEAR?
It was 1959 through 1961.
[ Editor’s Note: Father was born in 1925. He signed up (in U. S. Navy) when he was 17-years-old in 1942. He was part of the Seebees (C.B., Construction Battalions). My father worked on the Seebees communication systems, their electronics.
Not to be confused with the much later Navy Seals authorized by American President John F. Kennedy as a U. S. Navy special operations unit in the early 1960s. The history of the U. S. Navy Seabees in WWII began with the December 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. After the attack and the United States entry into WWII, the use of civilian labor in war zones became impractical. The Navy therefore created Construction Battalions abbreviated “C.B.” that eventually turned into the “Seabees.”
After WWII, the father went back to college and received a degree in electrical engineering and later studied physics. After that, he went to work for Western Electric, which became AT&T.
Western Electric Company (sometimes abbreviated WE and WECo) was an American electrical engineering company in telecommunications and the manufacturing arm of AT&T from 1881 to 1995. In 1915, Western Electric Manufacturing was incorporated in New York City, N.Y., as a wholly owned subsidiary of AT&T, under the name Western Electric Company, Inc. Bell Labs was half-owned by Western Electric. In 1960, NASA awarded Western Electric a contract worth over $33,000,000 for construction and engineering of the Mercury tracking network, and to provide the training of the remote-site flight controllers and Mercury control center operations personnel. Yes, sometimes he called it the ‘Dark Pyramid’ and sometimes he would call it the ‘Black Pyramid.’ He told me he was recruited to go up there (to Alaska).
FROM WESTERN ELECTRIC BY WHAT UNIT OF THE MILITARY?
I don’t know if it was through the Navy or Air Force or what? But I know the military involved had some kind of deal set up with Western Electric [ based in Omaha, but traveled to New Jersey and New York for work at Bell Labs.] They had taken some of these people and recruited them.

My mom always said she had to keep it a secret.
WHAT YOUR FATHER DID?
Yes. She told everybody that he was overseas.
WHERE DID HE WORK?
He was in Omaha, Nebraska.
AND THEN HE WAS APPROACHED AT WESTERN ELECTRIC BY REPRESENTATIVES FROM SOME MILITARY BRANCH IN THE UNITED STATES?
To the best of my knowledge, that is how it happened.
WHAT DO YOU UNDERSTAND HAPPENED?
My dad said he flew to Alaska and landed in Unalakleet.

Then from Unalakleet, they were on a military bus that had blacked out windows. He wore a compass around his neck that my mom had given him (sentimental thing), and he said they headed from there mostly east from Unalakleet. He said that was his transfer point. They landed in Unalakleet and then got on a military bus with blacked out windows and weren’t supposed to know where they were going or anything.
YOUR FATHER KNEW THAT FOR A FACT BECAUSE HE WAS WATCHING THE COMPASS AROUND HIS NECK?
That’s correct.
WHEN THEY STARTED NORTHEAST, DID YOUR FATHER SAY WHERE THEY ENDED UP?
Updated September 12, 2012, information from John Smith and father: My dad had gotten on a bus with blacked out windows that drove east and northeast and then split into groups that flew in small jump planes from a location that was nothing more than a runway of packed snow to an air strip at the underground pyramid installation. (Big enough to land cargo planes) I didn’t know the full details until I talked to him about it after my phone interview with you.

He said it was a full bus. I know when they got there, they had a camp set up. It wasn’t tents, but it wasn’t that far from that. They had them in there and they had about a 4-week period for orientation. Then he started working on the (pyramid) project.
WHERE DID YOUR FATHER WORK THERE AND WHAT ELSE DID HE TELL YOU IN DETAIL?

He said they had elevator shafts that went down. My father would always say when we kids complained about doing farm work that if we only knew what it was like working 700 feet underground, then we would not be complaining.
DID YOUR DAD EVER GIVE DETAILS ABOUT WHAT IT WAS LIKE AT 700 FEET UNDERGROUND?
He worked in an enclosed room. They had elevator shafts that were more like mining shafts where they close the gate up in front of you and drop you down. Once he was at the bottom, they would have the rooms down on the corners (of the pyramid). He always said they were on the corners where this (pyramid) structure was. He worked in an enclosed building.
HE WORKED ON A CORNER OF THE UNDERGROUND STRUCTURE THAT THEY CALLED THE ‘DARK PYRAMID.’
Yes. He said the corners of the structures faced northeast, southeast, southwest and northwest.
ARE YOU DESCRIBING THE BASE OF A PYRAMID?
Yes. Another thing that was kind of funny is that when he built the house out here (Omaha) in 1971, he built it and the house faces the same way (as Alaska pyramid.) He made the driveway longer and turned his house crooked (laughs).
DID HE EXPLAIN WHY THAT PLACEMENT WAS IMPORTANT?
No, he never did, but I kind of figured it out later when he had me work on some little projects of his. From the time I was 12, I’ve been working on the farm and he had me work on an aluminum structure that he created that he could convert like a low volt into a higher voltage.
AND IT WAS ALL ALUMINUM?
The structure was aluminum. We could not use steel and he was always adamant about 48 degree angles.
WHERE?
From the angle of the pyramid structure that he built, from the corner to the point.
THE POINT OF THE PYRAMID UP ABOVE?
Right.
DID HE EVER IMPLY WHAT THAT EXTRA 3 DEGREESMIGHT MEAN ABOVE 45 DEGREES?
No, I have no idea, but I know he could take a 110-volt generator and could hook it up and it would go through a series of wires to each of the corners of the pyramid and he would put these converted electric motors at the end of them. Then when he would run the voltage through it, he could run our entire house, the farm, everything! He said he could multiply energy.
HOW DID HE EXPLAIN WHAT THIS DARK PYRAMID STRUCTURE WAS? WHERE DID IT COME FROM? WHO MADE IT?
I don’t know anything about where it came from. And my dad said he knew it was pyramidal shaped, but he did not know if there was an interior to it? Or if it was made out of (solid) stone, steel or whatever? All he knew was that they were using the angles of the Alaska pyramid to distribute energy.
HOW BIG WAS THE PYRAMIDAL STRUCTURE?
Like I said, my dad said they had shafts that went down 700 feet under the ground.
WHERE DID YOUR FATHER SUGGEST WHERE THAT 700 FEET DOWN WASIN RELATIONSHIP TO THE WHOLE PYRAMIDAL STRUCTURE?
It was at the base at the corners.
THAT WOULD SUGGEST THAT THE PYRAMID UNDERGROUND WAS PERHAPS HOW TALL?
He said they were 700 feet underwater and then when they were at 700 feet down, that was the vertical shaft. There were also horizontal shafts that led to the corners (of pyramid).
DID HE EVER GO IN A HORIZONTAL SHAFT DIRECTLY INTO WHATEVER WAS AT EACH OF THOSE PYRAMIDAL CORNERS?
Yes, he did. At the end of those, there was another room with conduits that went out of it. I know he worked in there several times.
AND THE CONDUITS THAT WERE LEADING FROM THE ROOM THAT YOUR FATHER WAS PERSONALLY IN, IN ONE OF THE PYRAMID CORNERS, WHERE DID THOSE CONDUITS GO?
Those led straight into the corner of the structure.
IF HE IS COMING DOWN IN AN ELEVATOR DOWN 700 FEET, WHEN THE ELEVATOR OPENS UP, IS YOUR DAD OUTSIDE THE CORNER OF THE PYRAMID? OR INSIDE?
No, he is in some kind of room. He said they had bunk beds there where they could sleep in some kind of bunk house. They had a kitchen and some kind of control room and then a hallway that led out to the corner of the structure. He said they were cement hallways – nothing fancy or carpeted or anything like that. Just cement hallways and he would go from the main control room.
He said it was like an electronic room. They had like glass transformers or insulators of some kind in there. It was kind of an electronic control room.
Pyramid Could “Multiply Energy”
DID YOUR FATHER EVER SUGGEST THAT HE HAD BEEN BRIEFED ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP OF THAT ELECTRONIC CONTROL ROOM TO THE REST OF THE PYRAMID?
He knew that they were working on some kind of energy distribution, or acceleration. He knew they were trying to get energy to go through the corners and up through the middle and try to multiply and accelerate that energy.
IN YOUR EMAIL, YOU SAID, ‘IN HIS LATER YEARS, HE WOULD ALWAYS COMPLAIN WHEN RECEIVING HIS ELECTRIC BILL THAT IT WOULD BE FREE IF WE KNEW THE TRUTH.’

I know he was working for the Higher Ups. I’ve seen papers, correspondence from the Pentagon. I know he was working for some pretty high up people in the government. He used to bring home envelopes that even through the 1980s would be CONFIDENTIAL and we knew better than to go through any of his papers.

WHEN WAS THE LAST MONTH AND YEAR THAT YOU KNOW FOR A FACT THAT YOUR FATHER WAS MAKING TRIPS DOWN THE ELEVATOR 700 FEET AND WALKING INTO THE ELECTRONIC BASE OF THAT PYRAMID?
I know they went down there for a week at a time and then they would have two days off. The last time would have been some time in early 1961. When I heard your story on Coast to Coast AM, it shocked me that somebody was talking about the same thing that my dad had talked to me about.
DO YOU REMEMBER WHAT YOUR FATHER SAID SPECIFICALLY ABOUT TESLA’S WORK?
I know he compared Tesla’s work to fractals. And he also said that a pyramid shape was the perfect structure to create fractals.
HOW DOES THAT RELATE TO ELECTRICITY?
I don’t know! (laughs) But I think somehow the pyramid project in Alaska used fractals to enhance the energy distribution.

WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN YOUR FATHER’S BOTTOM LINE ABOUT HIS KNOWING HE HAD WORKED ON AN UNDERGROND PYRAMID THAT WAS LARGE AND COULD GENERATE SO MUCH ENERGY THAT THE WORLD WOULD NOT HAVE TO BE PAYING MUCH FOR POWER?
He thought if we had some kind of network where you could transfer energy from one source to another, he thought the energy people used could be cut down to a tenth (of our coal and fossil fuel use.)
DID YOUR FATHER EVER HINT THAT THE PYRAMID UNDERGROUND IN ALASKA WHERE HE WORKED COULD HAVE BEEN CONSTRUCTED BY SOMETHING FROM OUTER SPACE?
He never said so. I asked him and he said he didn’t know.
SO WHEN YOU HAVE ASKED HIM OVER THE YEARS WHETHER THE PYRAMID IN ALASKA WAS MADE FROM CREATURES FROM OUTER SPACE, HE HAS ALWAYS TOLD YOU THAT HE DID NOT KNOW.
But my father said that the Alaska underground pyramid was technology completely unknown at the time when he worked on it from 1959 to 1961. He didn’t know where the technology came from. I think the authorities kept him blindfolded on parts of it. He had his little part and other people had their parts and I think they kept him a little in the dark.
