Update On Alleged Underground Alaskan “Dark Pyramid”

“Farewell Airport could have been a forward staging area to bring in equipment and supplies by helicopters to the ‘Square’ that you mentioned.”

– Airline Pilot and Retired USAF Lt. Col.

“The pilot told my dad the Alaska site was ‘every bit as hush hush
as the Manhattan Project.’ …The pilot also told him that it was not a nuclear device; it was not made by man; nobody is supposed to know this place even exists. …This thing is some kind of power generator and it’s thousands of years old, it’s made out of stone like a pyramid. They don’t know where it came from, who made it or how it works. But it can generate enough power to power the whole North Slope, all of Alaska, and probably the whole country of Canada!”

Reposted February 27, 2024 – November 30, 2012  Anchorage, Alaska – In my ongoing efforts to understand if the alleged underground and ancient “dark pyramid” in Alaska could be true, Earthfiles hired Alaskan aerial photographer Frank Flavin to fly in a helicopter on September 26, 2012, over the “green square” latitude/longitude discovered in Google Earth by a retired Navy Captain and described in earlier Earthfiles reports that include:

The alleged underground pyramid structure west of Mount McKinley has provoked a lot of email since my original Earthfiles and Coast to Coast radio interview with Doug Mutschler, retired U. S. Army Counterintelligence Warrant Officer, with information about an underground pyramid that was posted on July 26, 2012.
See: Updated Parts 1 – 3: 072712 Earthfiles.

On July 27, 2012, I received more email information about a “dark pyramid” underground in Alaska west of Mount McKinley from the 46-year-old adopted son of a retired Western Electric engineer, who allegedly worked between 1959, the year Alaska became a state, and 1961 on a powerful electrical system emanating from a very large underground pyramid of unknown origin in Alaska.
See: Updated Real X-File Parts 1 – 5: 082312 Earthfiles.

That latitude/longitude I wanted to investigate about fifty miles southwest of Mount McKinley is: Google Earth Lat/Long: 63°17’51.40″N 152°31’24.49″W.  The elevation there is 1,150 feet. The helicopter image below was taken from 3,000 feet altitude, but does not show a “green square.” The Site is more like a ragged-edged circular area about the size of a football field in which the black spruce trees do not grow thickly as the spruce do around the Site. The marked Paths might be more related to animal traffic than historic, cleaned up terraforming, but there are more questions in the rest of this Earthfiles report. The nearest flowing water is Fish River, and about five miles away towards Mount McKinley is the unusually named Highpower Creek. An Alaskan geologist found in his 1998 edition of  Alaska Place Names Dictionary by Scarp Exploration, Inc., this listing for the Highpower Creek name reported by USGS in 1958:

Highpower Creek: stream, head is in Mount McKinley National Park, flows NW, then SW 58 miles to Swift Fork Kuskokwim River, 55 miles NE of Medfra, Kuskokwim Lowland; 63* 25′ N, 153* 07′ W; BGN 1964; (map 89). Variant names: Black Creek, Hipower Creek, Slow Fork, Slow Fork Kuskokwim River, Slow Fork Swift Fork Kuskokwim River. Local name reported in 1958 by USGS.”

I asked the retired Navy Captain why the darker green “square” he discovered in Google Earth wasn’t seen from 3,000 feet from the helicopter on September 26, 2012? The Navy Captain emailed on September 27, 2012:

“Linda –

Seasonal Variation of Flora – we don’t know when the Google Earth Image was taken with respect to month or year. From the image in Google earth, the reason the square stands out is because there is color differentiation between the four sides of the square and the surrounding flora. The area in general has two shades of green. One darker green which outlines the square and several other abstract shapes in the same general vicinity, and a lighter greenish, yellowish, tan color that seems to define the areas adjacent to the numerous creeks/streams in the surrounding area. This color differentiation serves to outline both the abstract dark green shapes as well as the square anomaly. However, since we have no idea of the nature of the flora in the Google Earth map, we don’t know how it may vary in color with the season in which sunlight duration and intensity, temperature and water flow in the creeks changes. Therefore it may very well be that the color differentiation that we see is not there when the flora all turns to a dry brown say as winter approaches. The elevation of the area around the square anomaly was very flat. The slopes of the sides were very small % of the total length, with changes in the elevation on the order of 10 to 15 ft over 1500 foot square.”

It’s also worth noting that while we tried to study the anomalous “square” Site in Google Earth, we were frustrated by out-of-focus blurring below a certain altitude, while other surrounding areas are clearly in focus down to tree sizes. The same focus problem occurs at Highpower Creek – no low altitude images are in focus. Is the selective blurring deliberate?

Further, I learned that in 1998, the Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) initiated “Operation Clean Sweep,” in which abandoned White Alice and DEW Line stations in Alaska were remediated and the land restored to its previous state. Could the surface land above the alleged dark pyramid have been cleaned up, too?

The following is the original emailed information from the retired Navy Captain:

Subject:  Alaskan Pyramid Interview on Coast To Coast AM of 26 July
Date:  July 27, 2012
To:  [email protected]

Dear Ms. Howe:

I am a retired Navy Captain that served as a Navigator/Communicator, Tactical Coordinator, Mission Commander in 3 active duty and Naval Air Reserve Patrol Squadrons over my 25-year career. I have been both an Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of two reserve units. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering from Ga Tech, a Master’s Degree in Ocean Engineering from Fla Atlantic Univ, and am a Professional Engineer.

I found your interview on the Alaskan Pyramid quite interesting. Having spent two deployments in Adak with my Navy Patrol Squadron, I have always been interested in articles about Alaska. I don’t have any specific knowledge of the Pyramid subject matter, however after listening to the interview and reading the information linked to it on C2CAM, I did the following:

1. Signed on to Google Earth
2. Drew a line between Mt. McKinley and Nome
3. Set my altitude above the ground to@ 15,000 ft – 20,000 ft
4. Proceeded to transit the line from SE to NW towards Nome looking for any anomalies that caught my eye. Specifically looking for “non-natural” features like straight lines or “non-natural” geometric shapes.

Approximately 50 miles northwest of Mt. McKinley just to the north of the red line connecting it to Nome, I came across a square shape that was very distinct in the ground. The area is a flat plain approximately 1950 ft ASL. The coloration of the anomaly is a darkish green and there doesn’t appear to be any type of surface structure. This is a very desolate area in the center of the state. However, the coloration is distinctly different than the immediate surrounding area. There are other areas nearby that have the same color, but are irregular in shape. The area that I noticed is a distinct “square.” My assumption is that if there is something below the surface it could be impacting the flora at the surface which somehow mirror the shape (dimensions) of a structure below. Perhaps it is a thermal differential that promotes growth or some other chemical/physical effect. I have no way to know other than observing the square anomaly.

I am forwarding to you for your inspection two jpeg files that I made from the Google map. One of the jpegs shows a reference Lat/Long that is @ 0.37mi from the anomaly. This reference Lat/Long is 63°18’North 152°32’ West. The red line just to the South of the reference position and the anomaly is the line connecting Mt. McKinley to Nome.

1)  Google Map Image of  “Square”

The second jpeg shows the anomaly outlined with the lines I created detailing the four sides of the square, as well as the lines bisecting the four corner angles and the lines bisecting the four sides. These lines all conform to a square with a base of 1510 Ft on a side and as you can see they match up perfectly with the square green anomaly in the first jpeg. You can duplicate what I have done by just going to Google earth the reference Lat/Long where you will see the anomaly.

2)  Google Map Image of  “Square” Outlined

“The red line just to the South of the reference position and the anomaly is the line connecting Mt. McKinley to Nome. The length each of the 4 side equals @ 1510 Ft. The interesting thing about this dimension is that it is exactly twice the length of the sides of the Great Pyramid at Gisa, which are 755 Ft on a side. The coincidence is interesting to say the least. This would make this square anomaly on the surface 4x the area of the base of the Great Pyramid, which at least is consistent with your witness (Doug Mutschler) who said the underground pyramid that was supposedly identified during the May 22, 1992, Chinese underground test was much larger than the Great Pyramid at Giza.”

Compare above Google image to infrared satellite image below taken of 17 pyramids hidden underground in Egypt and reported by U. K.’s BBC on May 26, 2011, and followed up with many images in U. K. Daily Mail (see Websites below).

Infrared satellite images have discovered 17 underground hidden pyramids and 3,000 ancient settlements in Egypt. NASA-funded archaeologist Sarah Parcak told the BBC: “I couldn’t believe we could locate so many sites. Is There A Link To Farewell Airport Built
in 1942 Near McGrath, Alaska?

Then I received the following email from a current Alaska airline pilot who flew for the USAF all over Alaska military air bases and retired as a Lt. Col. to further serve in the Alaska Air National Guard. In his civilian life, he has worked as an airline pilot since 1983. He has been following my Dark Pyramid research and wanted me to know that the most puzzling place he ever landed in his military career was in the late 1980s on a nearly mile-long airstrip NOT managed by the military. It’s called Farewell Airport, built in 1942 with a 4,600-foot-long runway on flat land along a river called Sheep Creek 70 miles from the anomalous “square.”  The nearest town is 63 miles northwest to McGrath, Alaska. The Farewell Airport distance to the “square” is 70 miles.

Retired Lt. Col., Alaska Air National Guard and Airline Pilot:

Dear Linda,

Heard you on C2C the other night talking about dark pyramid.

I am a retired Air Force/Air Force Reserve/Alaska Air Guard officer and pilot who had extensive military transport flying experience in Alaska (1977-1995). I was thinking about possible locations for the (underground pyramid) facility you were discussing and can only offer my experience in the region.

I have flown into Unalakleet. Road infrastructure is minimal, even to this day. I don’t know where buses could travel for “six hours” as the son of one witness testifies (Western Electric engineer). There are no roads that extensive. Just look at Google Earth east of Unalakleet and you will quickly dismiss that possibility. [ Road to airstrip and flight eastward more likely.]

On the other hand the old abandoned Farewell Airport in the “Farewell Burn” near McGrath has quite a bit of above ground facilities and a great runway. Not far from the McGrath Airport, Farewell was a dirt strip upgraded for operations of cargo aircraft in the C-130 catagory. This strip was abandoned for many years and owned by the FAA. The Alaska Air Guard acquired this facility in the late ’80s or early ’90s as I recall as Forward Operating Base (FOB). I flew numerous C-130 joint training missions with US Army helicopters at Farewell. Incredible remote facilities, with habitable buildings and heavy equipment such as road graders. I never knew of any underground facilities, but Farewell is east of Unalakleet and west of McKinley.

Oddly, this airport was never associated with a major Alaskan village or military project to my knowledge, but what was there was impressive compared to other remote places in Alaska.

Hope this helps,

Lt. Col .(ret)
Alaska Air National Guard

Farewell is almost exactly a 2-hour helicopter flight straight east from Unalakleet, as Bruce Pearson’s father described about his 1978 Huey helicopter ride with a pilot and co-pilot. Those chopper pilots might have worked as non-military intelligence agents on a mission to deliver very heavy supplies to the underground pyramid site. Bruce Pearson’s father said he could see Mount McKinley in the distance. Farewell is not far from Mount McKinley and only about 70 miles from the “square” Site that I have been trying to determine if it could cover up the alleged large underground pyramid that the helicopter crew said “could power the nation of Canada.”

The currently working airline pilot (Retired Lt. Col.) who has flown into most of Alaska’s military and civilian airports is puzzled by the mysterious history of Farewell Airport built in 1942 in such a remote tundra location. The nearest town, McGrath, is 63 miles away. On top of the remoteness was the length of the runway – 4,600 feet. Later it was apparently extended to 4,970 feet. First, Farewell was built and managed by the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) that became the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). So, Farewell Airport was never under military management, only civilian. That civilian management might have been CIA and/or other intelligence agencies.

Interview:

Alaska Airline Pilot and Retired USAF Lt. Colonel, Anchorage, Alaska:  “Two hours east from Unalakleet, Alaska – that would put it right in Farewell and Farewell Airport is probably no more than 70 miles from your green “square” site. I could see Farewell Base being used as a forward staging area for something that was further in. Farewell is built on flat land along Sheep Creek about 63 miles from McGrath, the nearest town.

Any transport category airplane of the time in the 1950s such as C-47s, C-46s, C-123s, C-119s – Any of those large transport category airplanes could have landed in Farewell Base. This was a 4,600-foot runway. Most of the little airstrips in Alaska, you’ll see anywhere from 1,000 to 2,000 feet. All the other Air Force bases that I went to associated with radar sites – typically the radar domes called ‘top camps’ were like higher elevations. Farewell Base is not like that. It’s flat right along the side of a river (called Sheep Creek) not far from the base of the Alaska Range (Mt. McKinley).

FROM INSIDE  THE MILITARY EXPERIENCE THAT YOU’VE HAD  FLYING, WHAT IS YOUR PERSPECTIVE ON WHY THIS LARGE 4,600-FOOT AIR BASE IN ALASKA BUILT IN 1942 IN AN AREA THAT WAS ONLY ABOUT 100 MILES SOUTHWEST OF MOUNT McKINLEY IN A RUGGED AREA, WHY WOULD THEY HAVE NEEDED THE 4,600-FOOT-RUNWAY BACK THEN IN THE  COLD TUNDRA OF ALASKA?

I have no idea. One source said it was originally built as an emergency airfield, but in the 1940s, who would have built it as an emergency airfield except for the military?  But the military makes no claims to it. The Army certainly does not. That would have been the Army Air Corps at the time. All the records that I can find point towards civilian operation (first under CAA and then FAA). I have no idea why they would build a 4600-foot runway if it was a climate research facility and they built all those buildings. Perhaps they built the runway to accommodate bringing in materials to build those buildings.

But to operate it for a short period of time and then abandon it is pretty strange to me. I don’t know why they would put something there.

AND WHY WOULD THE HISTORY OF FAREWELL AIR BASE BE SCRUBBED?

I don’t know. You know, there’s probably (no more than) five lines of history about this place – other than it was a climate research facility.

IF I UNDERSTAND CORRECTLY, YOU CANNOT FIND ANY HISTORY OF WEATHER RECORDS EVEN BEYOND 1945 TO 1971?

I really can’t.  (laughs) I also went and looked at all the military and airports and stations to include Air Force and Army bases and stations. They are all listed in some of the materials I looked at and Farewell Airport does not show up anywhere, other than being opened up by the CAA in 1942 (Civil Aeronautics Administration established in 1940 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt) and then operated by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration established in August 23, 1958, under Pres. Dwight D. Eisenhower.)

There are no other records of clean up or remediation (removal of contaminants and pollution) except by the State of Alaska’s Environmental Department. There was remediation done, I think, in the mid-1990s to remove some stuff that was around the airfield. But there was no record I could find of remediation of buildings being removed or anything like that. As a matter of fact, the time I was there, we took three C-130s in there. We re-fueled some Army helicopters utilizing the ground re-fueling system off of our C-130s.

So, yes, we could and we did operate there under permission of the FAA. But it was not a military airfield.

Is Farewell Airport Linked to Alleged Discovery and Investigation of An Underground Pyramid?

WHAT IS YOUR OWN PERSPECTIVE IN THE END OF 2012 ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY THAT THE ALLEGED LARGE STONE PYRAMID COULD BE 150  FEET UNDERGROUND WITH ITS BASE DOWN TO 700 FEET UNDERGROUND, WHICH WOULD BE 550 FEET HIGH VERTICALLY AND BURIED SOMEWHERE BETWEEN MOUNT MC KINLEY AND MAYBE THE SQUARE THAT I’VE BEEN TRYING TO RESEARCH?  OR AN AREA BETWEEN FAREWELL AIRPORT AND MOUNT MC KINLEY?  THAT SOMEHOW THAT REGION MIGHT HOLD THIS GREAT SECRET AND COULD THAT HAVE BEEN THE REASON WHY FAREWELL WAS CONSTRUCTED IN THE FIRST PLACE?

T hat’s an excellent question. I don’t know for a fact, but the question in my mind is that there was a lot of trouble and expense to open this place in an area that really has no military value. And as far as Farewell being a climate research laboratory, the nearest town McGrath was 63 miles away. This to me, the more I ponder it, is really strange – why was this place put out in the middle of nowhere?

And Farewell Airport struck me as being a fairly elaborate place. Who knows what could have been going on there?

IN MY WORK OF TRYING TO PHOTOGRAPH THAT LATITUDE AND LONGITUDE AT THE CENTER OF WHAT WE CALL THE ‘GREENISH SQUARE’ THAT THE RETIRED NAVY CAPTAIN DISCOVERED IN GOOGLE EARTH, WE DID NOT KNOW UNTIL AFTER WE HAD BEEN THERE AND DONE THE PHOTOGRAPHY  AND WERE PUZZLED ABOUT  WHY EXACTLY AT THE LATITUDE AND LONGITUDE THAT THE BLACK SPRUCE TREES WERE THINNED OUT AND NOT GROWING LIKE THE NORMAL THICK FOREST. AFTER THE TRIP AND PHOTOGRAPHY IN MY TRYING TO GET MAPS OF THE AREA SO I COULD IDENTIFY THE CREEKS THAT WERE VERY NEAR THE LATITUDE/LONGITUDE CENTER, WE DISCOVER THAT 5 MILES SOUTHEAST THERE IS SOMETHING CALLED ‘HIGHPOWER CREEK.’

GPS Map Detail of the “Square” latitude and longitude marked as “Howe” by Jayhawk Helicopters at larger red circle far left. The smaller red circles on right mark the twisting Highpower Creek not far from the border of the Denali National Park that includes Mount McKinley some 50 miles southwest of the “Square.”

AND IT TURNS OUT THAT HIGHPOWER MIGHT GO BACK TO ITS FIRST USGS NAMING IN THE YEAR 1958. THE WESTERN ELECTRIC ENGINEER – WHOSE SON DESCRIBED HIS FATHER GOING DOWN IN A MINING ELEVATOR 700 FEET TO WORK AT THE BASE OF A PYRAMID -SAID THE PYRAMID COULD PUT OUT ENORMOUS POWER. THAT WAS 1959 TO 1961. IF HE WAS THERE FROM 1959 TO 1961, AND IF THAT WAS THE BEGINNING OF THE SERIOUS RESEARCH BY OUR GOVERNMENT IN TRYING TO UNDERSTAND AND UTILIZE THIS PYRAMID UNDERGROUND, COULD THAT BE WHY THIS CREEK FIVE MILES TO THE SOUTHEAST WAS LABELED ‘HIGHPOWER CREEK’?

That’s a good question. But Highpower Creek – I’ve never heard of that before. A lot of  names of geographic places are given geographic names that are kind of suggestive of what is around them or what they resemble. And if that is the location of where this pyramid is, it’s certainly well hidden!

Farewell Airport certainly would provide within a relatively short distance – you could operate helicopters easily out of Farewell with relatively unobserved and unmolested operation with helicopters – Farewell Airport could have been a forward staging area to bring in equipment and supplies by helicopters to the ‘Square’ that you mentioned- that would certainly be plausible. But I don’t know anything about Highpower Creek.

WELL, NOBODY ELSE DOES EITHER! (laughs) IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THE WEATHER STATION THAT EXISTED THERE AT FAREWELL AIRPORT WAS ACTUALLY RUN AND MANAGED BY THE CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY? OR ANOTHER INTELL AGENCY?

If there was a structure that was generating lots of power that was discovered, there would be other agencies in the United States, other than the U. S. military, that would have been involved. And that explains to me why Farewell is specifically absent from any military registers – Army or Air Force – and operated by the FAA. If in fact there is something there, then I think there are other agencies of the United States that would have been involved in it. And it would have been civilian!

You’ve already reported that these Western Electric people were telling stories to their family – civilians!

RIGHT.

Those are not military electricians! And these non-military agencies really do have a long and deep history of recruiting civilian scientists and technicians to do the work. So CIA, NSA – who knows? It could be any of those.  And early offshoots of the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC).

I would think that if there was a power-generating ancient structure, those would have been the alphabet soup agencies that would have been involved.

THAT HIGHLY CLASSIFIED SUBJECT OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS AND THE EVOLUTION OF HISTORY THROUGH THE ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION WOULD BE A PERFECT COVER FOR ANYTHING RELATED TO THE DISCOVERY OF A LARGE UNDERGROUND PYRAMID THAT MIGHT IN AND OF ITSELF BE ABLE TO PROVIDE POWER AND THAT THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT COULD USE THE AEC THAT BECAME THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY (DOE) AND ALL THINGS RELATED TO NUCLEAR WEAPONS TRANSPORT AS THE COVER FOR ANY INVESTIGATION  OF AN UNDERGROUND PYRAMID.

So many of these projects have parallel covers to them. What’s well known now is that the development of the A-12, which was later to become an SR-71 (Blackbird), it was both a civilian and a military cover. The military side was more open, but the civilian side was more covert. That was kept highly classified. So a lot of these projects, the more dark aspects of them usually seemed to be civilian.

The more I’ve looked at all the places I’ve flown to, Farewell stands out like a sore thumb. I’ve got a big ‘Why?’ question mark over it.”
